Sowerbutt's Journey

The journey across Spain from Alicante in the government Fiat Ardita had been slow and uncomfortable. Despite the fighting ending more than 10 years earlier, the roads were still potholed and rutted, houses ruined and much of the countryside devastated. Fields pitted with shell craters, trenches hacked across prime land, rural tracks mined.
