"Let’s get down to
business,” Polly said. “Sorbay is earning his keep for a change, we have a
guest arriving at the cottage in the next day or two. Professor Harold Whistler from London
University, we call him Mr Whistler. Sorbay went on
about him, he’s some sort of expert on the Jerries,
working for the Gingernut on some special projects. The Gingernut wanted him
somewhere quiet and safe away from the bombing. The good news is
that the stoppers, the local WarAg and all the other nosey-parkers
have been told we are off limits – national security. Which means, gentlemen, that as long as we are discreet, we can do what we
like. We can get on with planting whatever we
want and stocking up. We’ll be able to keep animals here for the other farms we
buy in the area. The gem-cutting business will be fine without anyone
interfering."
