The profits from Manningtree’s introduction of commercial pig farming kept him in comfort and
contributed to the Blackshirts’ campaign during the Tithe Wars in the early
1930s. The Special Branch office in Harwich had three cuttings from the
East Anglia Daily Times, recording his support for the British Union of Fascists.
